Ham with a baked sweet potato and a sugar-free fruit cup ( Very budget friendly). My "safe foods" are peas, green beans, tomatoes, oranges, sweet potatoes, cottage cheese, bananas (Great for metformin tummy issues), peanuts, naan bread, pretty much every meaty protein, and really dark chocolate!! But vodka waters with lime aren't an issue! I personally have to watch for "Zero sugar" foods that use sugar alcohols because my body hates those, and my body REALLY doesn't do beers or ciders. The best way to get a list of optimal foods for yourself is to think about what you enjoy eating and then eat your meter (Testing in intervals after eating to see how your blood sugar reacts) so you know what to reduce in your diet - not cut! You can enjoy things in moderation and with control!! A food journal is really helpful for this and for identifying good trends I think the highest recommended search terms to use would be "Low Carb" "High Protein" and "Keto" If you are bothered by people recommending dietary changes, this is not a good subreddit for you. Please note: This subreddit is NOT a safe space for people with eating disorders. and all the hard work of your so called “reversed” or "cured" disease is out the window. Don’t take your meds, eat tons of carbs, etc. We are a community, not a paid focus group. Posts and comments not about diabetes will be removed. Posts and discussion should pertain to diabetes or this subreddit community in some way. Blind dropped links will be removed, as will posts begging for money/supplies/meds or fundraising posts.
